About me
Hello! In case you haven’t already gathered, my name is Signe (pronounced sing-neh). When I was little and people had trouble with my name I would say, “My name is Signe because I like to sing!”, which would inevitably garner a few laughs. Although I do not say that anymore (and maybe I should start back up), my love for singing and entertainment has never faded.
My passion for performing has led me to a love of high-energy comedic shows. There's nothing quite like the rush of joy I feel when making people laugh. But what I find truly captivating is when those hilarious moments are complemented with genuine tenderness and meaning. Lately, stories about LGBTQ+ experiences have motivated me to embrace my authentic self. They have also sparked a deep passion within me to share these stories on stage. My most cherished role thus far has been my award-winning portrayal of Pearl in Bull in a China Shop by Bryna Turner, which I was lucky enough to revive at the Region 6 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival this past February. This historical piece explores the lives of two remarkable queer women, Mary Wooley and Jeanette Marks. Through the diverse characters in the play, I learned valuable lessons that pushed me to grow both as an actor and as an individual. My most recent role as Tilly in She Kills Monsters became another favorite of mine. This brave and kind-hearted character taught me about what it means to be true to yourself; a lesson that is oftentimes lost on actors, but one that I have found improves my craft. I am excited to see what character I will get to lovingly explore next and what I may learn from them in turn.
But hey, I'm not just all about the glitz and glamour of the theater world! In my downtime, you'll often catch me tinkling away on the piano, channeling my inner creativity through arts & crafts, or gathering my friends for movie nights. I also love reading! Diving into fantastical worlds and captivating stories often fuels my imagination for the stage. I enjoy traveling too! I've been to six states and two countries other than my own. I've found that visiting different places helps me be more accepting of new people and ideas. As I embark on future journeys, I carry with me an unwavering commitment to remain open-minded and accepting of whatever lies ahead. I don’t yet know where I’ll end up, but I do know that keeping my eyes open will allow me to find all kinds of beauty in this great wide world!
So there you have it—a sneak peek into my life! Stay tuned for more exciting updates as I journey closer to the bright lights and the thrill of captivating audiences worldwide!
Current Projects
As a recent graduate of West Texas A&M University’s BFA Musical Theatre program in Canyon, TX, I am still discovering what is next for me! I am currently working on my voice acting portfolio and am on the lookout for remote voiceover and narration job opportunities. As an avid reader, I am especially excited at the prospect of narrating audiobooks.
I have recently moved to Oslo, Norway. I am a citizen of Norway and am looking forward to exploring my Norwegian heritage and seeing what opportunities await me here. It is thrilling to think of the big wide world that is out there and I am excited to see what I will get up to (although my love of travel has me holding out hope for a cruise or tour)!
I have reflected on my time at West Texas A&M University and am overwhelmed with gratitude. The knowledge, guidance, and support I received from my professors and friends were invaluable. They helped shape me into the performer I am today, and for that, I am eternally grateful. It is unclear what the next chapter in my life entails, but I know that due to their mentorship, my hard work, and the support of my family, I am ready to face my next great adventure.
